Nine Eight Five Coffee started with a number, 985, the address where everything came to life. But from the very beginning, it was always about more than just coffee or a location.
I was born and raised in San Bernardino, and this city means everything to me. Growing up here shaped who I am — it taught me resilience, pride, and the importance of community. I always knew I wanted to create something that added value back into my hometown, something that would make people feel connected and proud of where they’re from.
In 2022, we opened Nine Eight Five with a simple idea: to build a space where people could come together over great coffee and even better conversation. A place where everyone feels welcome the second they walk through the door.
My mom is Colombian and My father is Salvadorian — and being Hispanic is something I’m incredibly proud of. That pride shows up in everything we do: in the warmth we greet you with, in the attention to detail we put into every drink, and in the way we treat everyone like family.
Today, Nine Eight Five is a collective of people who love coffee, but even more than that, it’s a community. It’s a reflection of San Bernardino’s heart — full of grit, culture, and connection. It is an honor to serve each and every one of you, everyday.
